Saturday June 9, 2012 - Day #29

Yesterday we drove down the strip in Branson and took some pictures of the damage done by the tornado that went through Branson on February 29th this year.  It is amazing how some businesses are completely or nearly destroyed and others just down the block or across the street are untouched.  We were here nine years ago and the hotel we stayed at which is just about a block and a half from The Dixie Stampede was badly damaged.

This morning Lester and I drove to Springfield and had breakfast with Paula Hansen Stanislaus.  Paula and Jim Hansen were our pastors in Kenmore at Northshore Assembly.  I hadn't seen Paula since 2008 so it was really a treat to see her and catch up on her family.  It was a pleasure to meet her husband David Stanislaus.  He is originally from KS too.  We had a great visit.

On our way back to Branson we just had to stop at Bass Pro so Lester could feel the trip was complete.  Here are a few pictures of the last two days.

The Dixie Stampede
The motel we stayed in nine years ago.  It was hit by the tornado on February 29th this year.

The roof was blown off.  We stayed on the third floor on the back side of the hotel.
A close up of the destruction.  The swimming pool was on the bottom floor behind the trees.  When we were there it was storming and they told us we had to get out of the swimming pool due to the lighting,

Jessica, remember running up and down this ramp with Leta & I?
All the windows were blown out.
More damage

After we got out of the pool we went and stood out on the balcony and watched the storm

I'm sorry Lester but this won't fit in the motorhome.  Eat your heart out!
