July 13, 2012 - Back in Bremerton after a 61 day adventure!!

Lester & I arrived back in Bremerton on Wednesday July 11, 2012.  Wow, two months of adventure and fun!!  We had an amazing and exciting trip.  We traveled from Washington and as far east as Missouri, south to Texas, then thru New Mexico and up to the Grand Canyon.  From the Grand Canyon to California, Oregon and back to Bremerton.  I hope everyone has enjoyed my blog and I am glad I could share our trip with everyone by sharing a little of what we have seen.  This has been a trip Lester & I will not forget.  We had a great time and hope to take more trips, maybe not as extensive as this one but some short trips.  There is a lot of country and places we still want to explore.  Here are some pictures of our last day of the trip.

Approaching Medford OR
The countryside is amazing
Getting closer to familiar territory
Cruising down the highway
I was amazed that people would actually build a house so close to the edge up on top of the hillside.
We ran into road construction all along the way
Coming down off of one of the passes
Still going down
Looks like a body of water off in the distance.  Amazing view!
This would make a great postcard picture
We picked up our granddaughter, Gracie, in OR and she is having fun with Topper.
Grandma & Gracie eating lunch at IHOP in Eugene OR
Getting closer to home
Lester is concentrating on his driving.  He did a great job driving across country.
Portland traffic!!
Gracie on the Kingston Ferry.  This was her very first ferry ride.  She was excited.

Tuesday July 10, 2012

Haven't been able to get on the internet with my laptop for several days so will update you on our adventure of the last week or so.  We are currently in Phoenix, OR and heading north on the last leg of our trip.  Can't believe it will be two months tomorrow, July 11th since we left Bremerton on May 11th.  We have seen a lot of country, visited with family and friends all along the way and have had a GREAT TIME!!

Last Thursday we were in Cathedral, CA and saw two of our granddaughters, Amanda and Brittany Perry.  We had breakfast with Amanda at IHOP's on Friday morning.  We then traveled to Anaheim, CA and parked our RV next to Disneyland.  On Friday & Saturday nights we were able to see the fireworks display that Disneyland puts on every night from our RV.  On Saturday we visited Lyle & Lorraine Vavra in the Huntington Beach area.  Lester was in the Navy with Lyle and they re-connected a few years ago when we found out they lived in the same area that we had our annual meetings with RHF.  We had a nice BBQ at their house Saturday evening. They had their two grandsons visiting and they loved playing with Topper.

On Sunday we made our way to Sacramento, CA.  That is a very long drive!  We arrived in the Sacramento area late Sunday evening.  Our Regional Manager, Wilma Wilson, with RHF lives in the Sacramento area and wanted us to contact her when we went thru on our trip.  We had a great BBQ Monday evening at her home and then this morning we had breakfast with Wilma and Brenda Baker at Denny's.

There were just hundreds of wind turbines along the highway when we left the desert.
Just fields & fields of them everywhere you looked

The scenery is just breath taking!
More beautiful countryside
I think this is a show of Mt Shasta with snow still on it.
This was at the edge of a rest stop we were at.
More beautiful scenery along the was from Sacramento
A lake off in the distance.  Beautiful
More countryside
An awesome view along the way.

Thursday July 5, 2012

We left Flagstaff AZ early Wednesday morning.  Traveled to Tonopah AZ and spent the night.  We arrived in Cathedral City CA this afternoon around 2 pm.  Two of our granddaughters, Amanda and Brittany are here in CA.  Amanda came by the RV park where we are staying this afternoon and we visited with her before she had to go to work.  Later this afternoon Brittany stopped by and we had a good visit with her also.  Had not seen them since they graduated from high school.

We have seen a lot of country and been to a lot of places since we left on May 11, 2012  Can't hardly believe it has been almost two months since we left.  It is really hot here in CA.  We will be leaving here tomorrow and heading to the Long Beach area.  From there we will work our way back to WA.  Here are some of the scenery we have seen in the last couple of days.
